DORT, ZWISCHEN CHEMIKALIEN, FOTOPAPIER UND SICHERHEITSLICHT, LÖSTE SICH DER SCHMERZ, VON MEINEM ERZEUGER IN EINER INSTITUTION FESTGEHALTEN ZU WERDEN, LANGSAM IN DEN CHEMIKALIEN AUF. TECHNIK UND WISSEN ENTWICKELTEN SICH, UND MEINE WELTANSICHT OFFENBARTE SICH, ALS ICH DAS FOTOPAPIER BELICHTETE. DANN GESCHAH ETWAS WUNDERBARES: DIE FREIHEIT ERWACHTE – DIE FREIHEIT, DIE WELT AUS MEINER EIGENEN PERSPEKTIVE ZU INTERPRETIEREN.

WÄHREND ICH DIE WELT BETRACHTE, SPÜRE ICH DAS BEDÜRFNIS, DIE MENSCHHEIT ZUR BEWUSSTSEINERWEITERUNG ZU ERWECKEN, DEN MENSCHEN KLARZUMACHEN, DASS WIR TEIL EINES GANZEN SIND.

ICH GLAUBE AN SCHÖNHEIT, AN VERÄNDERUNG UND AN EINE POSITIVE ZUKUNFT – WENN WIR HANDELN. DIE SENSIBILITÄT, DIE WANDEL HERVORBRINGT, ENTSTEHT DURCH SCHÖNHEIT. WENN UNSERE GEDANKEN DIE REALITÄT FORMEN, SOLLTEN WIR UNS MIT SCHÖNHEIT BESCHÄFTIGEN, DAMIT UNSERE WELT ZU EINER SCHÖNEN REALITÄT WIRD. ICH LEBE AUF DER SUCHE NACH EINER AUSDRUCKSFORM, DIE MEINER INNEREN WELT ENTSPRICHT – OHNE WORTE, NUR DURCH BILDER. WAS ZÄHLT, IST DIE BOTSCHAFT, NICHT DER BOTE.

WHY PHOTOGRAPHY

At the age of 12, living in the collective solitude of a boarding school in Rio Claro, Brazil, I discovered photography. It wasn't instantaneous; it was a slow, continuous process that still surprises me today. In the beginning, it was black-and-white photography: shooting on the edge of the environment, developing, and enlarging.

The photographic laboratory became an escape, an analogy to the analog. There, between chemicals, photographic papers, and safety light, the pain of being imprisoned in an institution by my progenitor slowly dissolved in the chemicals. Technique and knowledge were developing, and my worldview was revealed after exposing the photographic paper. Then, something wonderful happened: freedom awakened—the freedom of interpreting the world through my point of view.

The possibility to share my vision freely expanded as I left boarding school, a teenager with a broadened perspective. I left with the certainty that I had already been free for a while. Observing the world, I feel the need to awaken humanity to awareness, to make people realize that we are part of a whole.

I believe in beauty, in change, and in a positive future if we take action. The sensitivity that brings change stems from beauty. Humans make great positive transformations motivated by beauty, which catalyzes the movement for change. I see my photography as a mission to sensitize human integration with the universe, like small atoms joining together to create matter and present time—thoughts becoming reality from observing light reflected over matter.

If our thoughts shape reality, we should think about beauty so our world transforms into a beautiful reality. I live in the search to express myself as I desire, speechless, only through images. What matters is the message, not the messenger.

Com 12 anos, vivendo na solidão coletiva de um internato em Rio Claro, Brasil, descobri a fotografia. Não foi algo instantâneo; foi um processo lento e contínuo que ainda hoje me surpreende. No começo, era a fotografia em preto e branco: fotografando nos limites do ambiente, revelando e ampliando.

O laboratório fotográfico se tornou um refúgio, uma analogia ao analógico. Lá, entre produtos químicos, papéis fotográficos e luz de segurança, a dor de estar preso em uma instituição por meu progenitor se dissolvia lentamente nos produtos químicos. Técnica e conhecimento foram se desenvolvendo e minha visão de mundo se revelou após expor o papel fotográfico. Então, algo maravilhoso aconteceu: a liberdade despertou – a liberdade de interpretar o mundo através do meu ponto de vista.

A possibilidade de compartilhar minha visão livremente se expandiu quando saí do internato, um adolescente com uma perspectiva ampliada. Saí com a certeza de que já estava livre há algum tempo. Observando o mundo, sinto a necessidade de despertar a humanidade para a consciência, de fazer as pessoas perceberem que somos parte de um todo.

Acredito na beleza, na mudança e em um futuro positivo, se agirmos. A sensibilidade que traz a mudança nasce da beleza. Os seres humanos fazem grandes transformações positivas motivados pela beleza, que catalisa o movimento para a mudança. Vejo minha fotografia como uma missão para sensibilizar a integração humana com o universo, como pequenos átomos se unindo para criar matéria e o tempo presente – pensamentos se tornando realidade a partir da observação da luz refletida sobre a matéria.

Se nossos pensamentos moldam a realidade, devemos pensar sobre a beleza, para que nosso mundo se transforme em uma realidade bonita. Vivo na busca de me expressar da maneira que desejo, sem palavras, apenas através de imagens. O que importa é a mensagem, não o mensageiro.
